It’s concerning that the council seems more concerned with sidewalk improvements to accommodate robots than addressing the needs of pedestrians. Among other things, overgrown hedges create dangerous accessibility issues throughout the city. I’m still waiting for any member of council to make that simple issue a priority over bending over to help another tech company profit on our streets and sidewalks.

Erickson’s typically dismissive comments belie the lived experience of people who deal with the already overwhelmed sidewalks occasioned by scooter scofflaws, bike riders, and these increasingly aggressive delivery robots.

Meister is not alone in her concerns and she remains the one voice on council who asks tough questions.

This project is also knocking down our home, a 1934 bungalow on N West Knoll Drive. The row of bungalows have significant historical value and it’s a shame they’ll be ripped down for this mass of cement.

However, in its appeal letter dated Nov. 17, the developer argued that the project was unlawfully denied, and added that the City Council must overrule the decision under California housing law. “

The developers sound like jerks. Fire safety concerns due to its size. How about addressing that? Seems pretty serious. But instead they argue being “unlawfully denied?” Either the writing is bad or these attorneys are absolute lunatics.

This project has been notorious for its dubious dealings from the start. The Council and Planning Commission’s unwillingness to challenge the developer regarding the valid concerns of 1000 plus local residents regarding size and safety issues, indicates our government is compromised. They think the public is that gullible to accept their “ our hands are tied, it’s the laws” excuse. They view the public with contempt, as interfering with their hold on power and ability to derive the developers that they serve first and foremost. If they can’t challenge any aspect of this project, then they have been elected to do nothing and get paid well. This is a travesty of justice for those directly affected. They should hang their heads in shame!

The Homeless Industrial Complex overseen by LAHSA has always been about enriching their organization and the salaries of its executives, not about getting homeless off the street. If they did their jobs correctly, they wouldn’t have jobs themselves, so their incentives are out of whack. Lots of good people fell for this likely scam for years.

Note that the Trump administration’s approach to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic domestically was implementing policies & budget proposals that involved major funding cuts to HIV/AIDS research in-spite of considerable AIDS Vaccine progress, ending prevention programs and, domestic & global health aid ending free PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) medication to low-income, uninsured patients. The MAGA plan to end or contain AIDS is basically to attain maximum infection in high risk groups which they see as undesirables, then withhold healthcare so that all those infected die off ASAP !
