West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a 30-year-old man for attempted vehicle burglary on Nov. 20 after a brief pursuit that ended with a crash near City Hall. Authorities are still searching for two other suspects.
Deputies received a call around noon about two men looking into the windows of parked cars in a lot off Sweetzer Avenue just north of Santa Monica Boulevard. A witness confronted the men and they quickly got into a white sedan and fled, Sgt. John Magana said.
“The witness yelled at them and scared them and they drove away, but they ended up crashing,” he added.
The vehicle attempted to turn south onto Sweetzer Avenue and struck another car before driving onto the sidewalk and coming to a stop in front of an apartment building just south of West Hollywood City Hall. Two suspects – one male and the other female – ran from the vehicle, but sheriff’s deputies arrived simultaneously and apprehended a male suspect. Malik Jackson, of Los Angeles, was booked for felony attempted vehicle burglary. Deputies were unable to locate the other two people who ran from the scene. Magana had no further description of the additional suspects.
