Re “Dedicated bike lanes are needed to protect cyclists,” Letters to the Editor, Oct. 18 issue
You say that dedicated bike lanes are necessary to protect the bicyclists. Well … dedicated sidewalks are needed to protect pedestrians. And yet there is no such thing in West Hollywood or anywhere for that matter.
Pedestrians have to take their chances of being hit by illegal scooters riders, delivery robots or E-bikes every time they traverse our sidewalks, Everyone seems to want protections and laws set up for drivers and for bicyclists, but there are no protections and laws set up for pedestrians who are the most vulnerable of us all, especially pedestrians with disabilities and pedestrians who are older.
What is being done to protect us? So far, absolutely nothing. And that is terribly unfair and sad.
